Girls’ Night Out is a charity event of entertainment, fun and fundraising just for women that benefits Cancer Services, Fisher-Titus Mammography Fund, Firelands Regional Medical Center Cancer Program Fund and Cleveland Clinic Cancer Centers Patient Services Fund. Doug and Gretchen Studer founded the Girls’ Night Out event in 2005 as a way to give back to the community and to support local cancer programs. This year they celebrated their twelfth year! Dr. Stefano and some team members enjoyed the evening celebrating and donating toward a great cause. Kathy our scheduling coordinator here at the office participated in the “Bras for a Cause” sponsored by Vacation Land Federal Credit Union, and won Second Place overall, and then judge’s choice! We would like to thank everyone who donated to the Food Drive before Thanksgiving for the Victory Kitchen here in Sandusky. They were very grateful. Congratulations to Rachel F winner of the $50 Gift Card for participating this year. We appreciate your support to these great organizations. We are looking forward to doing this again next year.

This year we partnered with Vacation Land Federal Credit Union for their fifth annual “Help Make the Holidays Bright” toy drive! We were a drop off location for new, unwrapped toys, that are going to be given to families in need right here in Erie and Huron counties this Christmas. Thank you to all that made a donation with us this year and congratulations to Kim S winner of a Sonicare toothbrush.

Something new that we are teaming up with this year is Ohio Go, and their project “Happy Christmas” where we fill a shoebox for a local child in need. Kendra and Christine the founders of OHgo, began to realize that the children they really wanted to reach had no way of coming to them. That is when they decided to go to them! They were determined to reach out to these families at their homes and in their neighborhoods. “How awesome would it be to go mobile, to deliver gifts and items of need to their doors, to throw events and bookmobile visits on their streets? We wanted to give these children the opportunity to thrive in their own environments. February is children’s dental health month. We are hosting a coloring contest for children ages 1-13. There will be one winner in each of the three age groups. Winners will receive a children’s Sonicare toothbrush. Please see one of our team members for more details and appropriate age entry form.  Going on now through February 28^th. Give Kids A Smile day is Friday February 3^rd at the Erie County Health Department. Dr. Stefano will be partnering again with the Erie County Health Department in their dental clinic with Dr. Chung. Here is a chance for YOU to make a difference. Hundreds of dental practices throughout the U.S. and Canada professionally whiten teeth to raise money for seriously ill, disabled, and underprivileged children in their local communities and around the world. Fifty percent of the donations are earmarked for each dental practice’s local charity partner, and the balance goes to the Smiles For Life Foundation to be distributed to worthy and approved children’s charities across the U.S., Canada and worldwide. Participating children’s charities include Children’s Miracle Network, Children of Romania, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, CURE (in Cambodia), Smiles for Hope, and the Kids Cancer Care Foundation.

For our fifth year, Stefano dental will be participating in the Smiles for Life campaign starting March 1st through June 30^th with our half of the proceeds going locally to Volunteers of America of Erie County- the Crossroads Shelter where they help with transitional and emergency housing for families and individuals.

Our custom bleaching system is regularly $419. During the smiles for life promotion, the fee is reduced to $200 and 100% of that is donated to charity!

If you choose not to bleach we've set a goal to raise at least $1,000 this year in additional donations, apart from the donations received through teeth whitening. Deb is one of our team’s hygienists. She helps keep our family of patients’ teeth sparkling clean. She likes working here because it gives her a change of pace and a stream of new faces, and keeps her on her toes. She LOVES dentistry for the diversity of people, which means a diversity in teeth: not one mouth is the same. She loves challenges, and when patients return for preventive maintenance, their teeth are in better health from what she has done.

She is happily married to her husband Corey since 2007, and they have two beautiful children. She likes to garden, run, work out, and be outdoors.

Her favorite recipe is Crockpot Chicken & Dumplings:

3 Chicken Breasts, 2 Cans Cream of Chicken, 1 Box of Broth, & 1 Can of Biscuits-

First combine Chicken, Cream of Chicken, & Broth into the crockpot, turn on high for 3-5hours, then shred the chicken. About 30 minutes before serving, break apart biscuits into pieces and place in the crockpot on top of the shredded chicken and allow to cook until not doughy. And enjoy! *You can add veggies to preference.

She also loves her crockpot cake recipe:

1 Large Can of Apple Pie Filling, 1 Box of Spice Cake, 1 Stick of Butter

Spray the crockpot with cooking spray, place the apple filling, then cake mix, then pads of butter on top. Cook on high for 3 hours or until done. And enjoy!
