MAY IS NATIONAL BIKE MONTH

If high gas prices have you thinking of making a switch in your commute, consider that May is National Bike Month. Shifting from driving alone to bicycling to work is healthy for you, your gas bill, and the planet.

National Bike Day is Friday May 16.

Bike to Work events give first-time bike commuters, die-hard regulars and fair-weather cyclists a chance to ride and celebrate together.

The goal of the month long Bike Commute Challenge is to leave your car at home at least once a week and give healthy commuting a try. Organize a team of co-workers or friends and pedal your way to success.

Bike to Work Day gives you a chance to get your bike out of the garage and relive that childhood feeling of freedom.

Here are some tips that will help you enjoy biking to work even more:

·      Have your bike checked by your local bike shop. Our National Bike Month co-sponsor is Wake N Wheel in Blue Jay next to Jensen's

·      Always wear a helmet.

·      Ride in the right-most lane that goes in the direction that you are traveling.

·      Obey all stop signs, traffic lights, and lane markings.

·      Look before you change lanes or signal a turn; indicate your intention, and then act.

·      Be visible and predictable at all times.

We look forward to seeing you on the road.
