Annual Food and Toy Drives

Annual Food and Toy Drives

We would like to thank everyone who donated to our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.  This year we partnered with Buckeye Cable and the Erie Co. Volunteer Center to collect non-perishable food items for local families in need.  Congratulations to Judy K. who won a $50 Meijer gift card in our Food Drive Raffle.

We also partnered with Vacationland Federal Credit Union for their 6th annual “Help make the Holidays Bright” toy drive.  We were a drop off location for new toys that were distributed to needy children right here in Erie and Huron Counties. Thank you to all who donated and to Taylor O. who won a Sonicare toothbrush for her donation.

As a team, we also worked with the Salvation Army and adopted an entire family for Christmas this year. We shopped for each member of the family and were able to give each of them wonderful gifts and grocery cards. It was truly a gift to the team to be able to give back to our community in this way.

Make A Vet Smile Day

Make A Vet Smile Day

Make a Vet Smile Day 2017 was a huge success.  We honored those who have served our country by providing free dental services to all veterans.  In just 6 hours we were able to provide over $20,000 in dental services to 36 veterans. Thank you to all of our volunteers for making this day possible.  Our third annual Make a Vet Smile Day will be Monday, November 12 th, 2018.  All veterans are welcome.

Food for Thought

Food for Thought

Food is meant to make you healthy and happy and also provide energy.  If you follow a few basic principles, your teeth and gums will stay healthy. Here are a few things that you may not realize are harmful to your teeth and why.

SODA: We all know how bad soda is for pretty much all aspects of our health and oral health is no exception.   Sodas are highly acidic, and the acids found in them can harm your teeth even more than sugar by stripping minerals from your enamel.  Hence, even sugar free (diet) sodas are pretty bad for your teeth as they contain citric acid and phosphoric acid.  Of course, regular, sugar containing sodas are even worse, as they have the added danger of providing a rich sugar feast for the bad bacteria in your mouth.

SPORTS DRINKS:  Even though they sound healthy, sports drinks are packed with sugar and acid and the potential for erosion and cavities is significant.

ENERGY DRINKS: Studies have found energy drinks to be the most acidic beverages compared to sports drinks, sodas and 100% juice and the second most erosive (second to only sports drinks). So be warned, in addition to giving you a quick boost, energy drinks may also give you cavities as well.

No Show Fund

No Show Fund

Do you know about our No Show Fund?  We have a policy in place requesting 48 hours’ notice if you are changing an appointment, otherwise a $50 fee will be incurred.  Truly, this fee does not cover the cost of the missed appointment, yet we hope this will encourage your compliance.  All of the fees we collect are donated to charity. As a team we are very passionate about giving back to our community and in 2017 we donated $1,150 to charities such as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Life Teen Program, Miles for Maddie  and the Salvation Army.  We are dedicated to incredible service and patient care.  We appreciate you honoring this policy.
